West Indies confirm change of captain in all formats
Darren Sammy has been named West Indies captain for the limited-overs leg of their tour of Sri Lanka.
The St Lucian all-rounder took over from Chris Gayle as Test skipper prior to the start of the ongoing three-Test series in the same country, which is currently level at 0-0 ahead of the final match.
And the West Indies Cricket Board have now confirmed Sammy will remain in charge for the five-match ODI series and one-off T20I in December.
Batsman Kirk Edwards and paceman Andre Russell are the newcomers in a 15-man squad.
Edwards, an uncapped 26-year-old right-hander from Barbados, is one of four one-day specialists who will fly out to Sri Lanka.
All-rounder Kieron Pollard, spinner Nikita Miller, seam bowler Ravi Rampaul and Edwards will replace batsman Brendan Nash, wicketkeeper Devon Thomas, paceman Nelon Pascal and spinner Shane Shillingford from the Test squad.
Important
"This will be a very important series for us as we look ahead to the World Cup, which will be played in the sub-continent in a few months," said Courtney Browne, the WICB selector on tour.
"These are the last ODIs before the World Cup, so we expect the players to make the most of the opportunities."
The first ODI takes place in Hambanthota on December 9.
