Samit Patel has signed a contract extension that commits him to Nottinghamshire until the end of the 2010 season.
The all-rounder, 23, made his England debut during the recent limited overs series against South Africa.
He impressed sufficiently to earn selection for the upcoming Stanford Series in the Caribbean and one-day internationals in India.
Patel topped Nottinghamshire's batting averages in the LV County Championship in 2008 with 53.88 and was happy to sign for another year, having already been contracted through to the end of next season.
"I'm very happy at Notts and even though my previous deal didn't expire until 2009," he said. "I was keen to agree an extension.
"It has been a good year for me and for the team and I'm confident that we will be able to challenge for honours next season."
Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell added: "Samit has taken huge strides recently and this contract rewards him for his standing in the team.
"He has matured as a person and a player and he has serious ambitions to play Test cricket for England."
