Lewis covering for Freddie

England have called up Jon Lewis as cover for Andrew Flintoff, who suffered knee inflammation during Friday's loss to India.

Gloucestershire captain called up as cover after Flintoff suffers knee inflammation

The knee problem Andrew Flintoff picked up during England's defeat against India in Friday's second NatWest Series one-day international has left the all-rounder doubtful for the next two matches. Making only his second international appearance following a third operation on his left ankle, Flintoff suffered stiffness in his right knee whilst fielding during England's nine-run loss at Bristol. The 29-year-old defied the problem to take career-best ODI figures of five for 56, but a scan on Saturday revealed mild inflammation. Flintoff has subsequently been given a cortisone injection, with an England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) statement saying that he will continue to be assessed on Sunday. Gloucestershire captain Jon Lewis has been called up as cover, and the seamer took part in Saturday's net session at Edgbaston - venue for Monday's third match in the series.
