Joe Drabble heaps praise on Jonathan Trott after he piled more misery on Australia on day two.
It was £18 a ticket in some sections of the stadium today... Probably the best investment an England supporter has ever made.
There have been some memorable days on this trip to date: Alastair Cook's fightback in Brisbane, Kevin Pietersen's heroics in Adelaide, my first encounter with a kangaroo.
However, today will take some beating as England pummelled Australia into submission in front of almost 60,000 spectators at the MCG.
The Ashes urn is almost certainly coming home now. England's batsmen brilliantly backed up their bowlers efforts from yesterday to power 346 runs ahead! This really is pinch yourself stuff.
Jonathan Trott was the latest England player to step forward and take responsibility as he continued his fledgling Test match career with another battling century - his fifth in total and third against Australia.
He is the Robbie Savage of the cricketing circuit. You love him if he's one of your players, despise him if he's not.
Reliable
His pre-delivery rituals get right under the skin of the opposition players and supporters, however any man who still doesn't know his guard after 278 balls gets a thumbs up from me.
He ground Australia down today, picking off the loose deliveries and scampering singles to ease England towards an utterly dominant position. How Australia wish they had such a reliable No.3...
He scored more runs today than Ricky Ponting has all series. Enough said.
Speaking of the Aussie captain, he let himself down today. With all the criticism and scrutiny he has been under during this series it was a matter of when, not if, he was going to snap. Today he lost it.
His verbal tirade aimed at umpires Aleem Dar and Tony Hill after Kevin Pietersen was adjudged not out following a caught behind appeal resulted in punishment from the match referee. There is no place for the finger-wagging and physical intimidation he displayed out in the middle.
His mood would not have improved when Matt Prior was given a life early in his innings and the England wicketkeeper cashed in superbly thereafter. He now has over 2,000 Test runs in his 39 matches and has quickly become an integral part of the team.
England have now shared century partnerships for the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth wickets during a series in which everyone has contributed.
I look forward to seeing more of the same tomorrow as England look to wrap-up the perfect Christmas gift.
