Lauren Winfield to miss England v India in Women's World Cup

Opener Lauren Winfield hit one six and five fours on her way to 35 off 40 balls

England opener Lauren Winfield will miss the first match of this year's ICC Women's World Cup, live on Sky Sports 2 HD.

The Yorkshire-born player suffered a wrist injury during England's final warm-up game against New Zealand, and will be absent when the hosts face India at the County Ground, Derby, on Saturday.

And according to the ECB, the 26-year-old may also be unavailable for the second fixture against Pakistan at Grace Road, Leicester, on Tuesday of next week.

An ECB statement said: "As an extra precaution the hand will be in a protective cast until further information is available to medical staff."
