Sri Lanka coach Marvan Atapattu has resigned following the team's Test series defeats to Pakistan and India.
A former captain and veteran of 90 Tests as a top of the order batsman, Atapattu was only named full-time coach last September.
He had been batting coach since 2011 and then became interim coach last year, guiding Sri Lanka to their first ever series victory in England.
He was then named Sri Lanka's first full-time local coach for 15 years but the Sri Lankans have lost two home series this year for the first time since 1993.
They were beaten 2-1 by Pakistan and then lost by the same score-line to India when Virat Kohli's side completed a 117-run win in the third and deciding Test on Tuesday.
