Opener Tamim's 181-ball stay ended with a top-edged heave, the first of three wickets in successive overs for 6ft 7in left-armer Benn, who now has six five-wicket hauls in Test cricket.
West Indies, who won the first Test by 10 wickets in St Vincent last week, had earlier advanced their second innings from 208-4 to a declaration at 269-4.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul, on 63 overnight, advanced to his 30th Test hundred and finished on 101 not out - meaning Bangladesh failed to dismiss him in either Test.
Chanderpaul, the Guyanan left-hander who made his West Indies debut in 1994, made an unbeaten 84 in the first innings and 85 not out in his only bat during the first Test.
He has now moved above Don Bradman into joint 10th place with Matthew Hayden on the all-time list of Test century makers. Among West Indians, only Brian Lara (34) has more.
