Joe Clarke marked his Nottinghamshire debut with a century on day one of the Specsavers County Championship season at Trent Bridge.
The former Worcestershire batsman was 109no at the close, with Notts 324-5 and in control of their Division One clash with Yorkshire.
Having been put in to bat, Notts were 75 without loss before Ben Duckett (43) fell to Steven Patterson. Ben Slater did make it to his half-century, eventually falling for 76 to give Duanne Olivier his first Championship wicket for Yorkshire.
Olivier (2-74) also removed Notts skipper Steven Mullaney (31) but Clarke kept going and a clipped four through midwicket brought up his hundred just before stumps. SCORECARD
At the Ageas Bowl, Sam Northeast (94no) was closing in on a century when bad light brought play to an end on day one with Hampshire 303-4 against Essex.

Having moved up to open in a bid to earn an England recall, James Vince was dismissed in the final over of the first session, having made 40 and Aiden Markram made 63 on his Hampshire debut before he was dismissed by Matthew Quinn (2-63).
Northeast and Rilee Rossouw then put on 117 for the fourth wicket and after Jamie Porter removed Rossouw, Liam Dawson joined Northeast, who, due to the fading light in Southampton, must wait until the second morning to try and reach three figures. SCORECARD
Meanwhile, Somerset and Kent must wait until tomorrow to get their seasons underway after day one at Taunton was washed out without a ball being bowled.
In Division Two, 15 wickets fell on the first day at Hove as Leicestershire bowled Sussex out for 173 before recovering from 59-5 to reach 131-5 at stumps.
Tom Taylor led the way for the visitors, taking a career-best 6-47, while Chris Wright chipped in with 3-53 as only David Wiese (51) put up any real resistance for the hosts.
Left-armer Mir Hamza (3-36), on debut, and Ollie Robinson (2-37) then put the pressure right back on Leicestershire but a 72-run stand between Lewis Hill (40no) and Harry Dearden (26no) meant the away side go into day two trailing by just 42. SCORECARD
Derbyshire's Luis Reece fell to the first ball of the season and Wayne Madsen (0) was dismissed by Chris Rushworth later in the same over before the home side fought back against Durham.
Harvey Hosein was the last man out for 78 having helped the hosts from 36-4 to post 197 in their first innings.
Reece then made amends with the ball, taking 2-15 in his five overs, and Logan van Beek's only over was a wicket maiden as Durham closed on 41-3. SCORECARD
Alex Wakely (76) and Adam Rossington (67) hit half-centuries as Northamptonshire made a strong start to their game with Middlesex at Wantage Road, ending day one on 310-6.
Despite a potent-looking Middlesex attack, for whom Tim Murtagh took 4-43 and Toby Roland-Jones (1-70) and Steven Finn (1-96) claimed a wicket apiece, the Northants batsmen more than held their own.
The hosts will hope to add another batting point at least on day two with Windies captain Jason Holder still at the crease, unbeaten on 36. SCORECARD
