Hampshire have signed former Derbyshire spinner David Wainwright as cover for their County Championship match at Somerset.
Skipper Liam Dawson is away with England, while young off-spinner Brad Taylor is struggling with an ankle injury.
Wainwright, a useful lower-order batsman as well as an experienced off-spinner, has been playing for Shropshire in Minor Counties cricket since leaving Derbyshire last August.
Hampshire's director of cricket Giles White said that he will make a decision on whether Wainwright stays with the club after the Somerset match.
"He'll be available for selection at Taunton and then we'll see from there," he told BBC Radio Solent.

"The last Championship match there, it spun a lot. Somerset have a lot of right-handers too and David can turn the ball away from the bat."
Hampshire are battling against relegation from Division One. They are second-bottom and 16 points behind seventh-placed Durham with four games left.
