Stuart Broad will have a scan on Thursday morning after complaining of soreness in his left heel while on county duty.

Broad bowled just one over on Wednesday before leaving the field as Nottinghamshire beat Leicestershire by an innings.

It is understood that Broad left the field of play as a precaution but there will be concerns at the ECB over his fitness with Chris Woakes (side strain), James Anderson (thigh) and Ben Stokes (knee) all having suffered some recent injury problems.

England begin their Test series against South Africa at Lord's on July 6 and it is not known at this stage whether Broad will be called up to be part of that squad.
