Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been suspended for one match and fined 40 per cent of his match fee because of a slow over-rate in the first Test with New Zealand.

Misbah would have missed the second Test in any case as he flew back home following the death of his father-in-law.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has already named Azhar Ali to lead Pakistan in the second Test, which starts on Friday at Hamilton.

Pakistan team players were also fined 20 per cent of their match fee after they were ruled to be two overs short of their target of 103 overs at Christchurch.

Misbah had been found guilty of a minor over-rate offence during the Oval Test against England in August, his second offence within a 12-month period.
