Highs and lows

Only one side has topped 240 in the competition so far - Sussex made 242-5 against Gloucestershire at Bristol, yet only won by one run after the Duckworth/Lewis Method intervened.

At the other end of the scale, Worcestershire were dismissed for just 53 by Lancashire at Manchester, the only total of less than 90 this season.

There were two victories by just one run - Yorkshire defeating Derbyshire at Derby and Hampshire beating Sussex at Hove. The closest win by wickets was Nottinghamshire's two-wicket win over Lancashire at Trent Bridge.

Age no barrier

Worcestershire's youth policy is evident is the fact that they fielded the four youngest teams in the competition, headed by the 11 who faced Northants at Worcester who boasted an average age of 24 years 181 days. Every side they fielded averaged less than 26.

Azhar Mahmood of Surrey was the oldest player so far at 41 years 152 days when he faced Kent at The Oval. Darren Stevens and Paul Collingwood were the other 40-plus players to participate in the competition this year.

Surrey also had the season's youngest player in Sam Curran, who was just 17 years 352 days when he took the field against Essex at Chelmsford.

Big-hitters

Jason Roy has two of the eight centuries to be scored, but the highest individual score came from Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who smashed 127 from just 54 deliveries against Durham at New Road. His eight sixes were also a season high, equalled by Ross Taylor in his unbeaten 93 for Sussex against Gloucestershire at Bristol.

At the other end of the scale, Gordon Muchall's innings of 22 for Durham against Lancashire at Chester-le-Street was scored at better than a run a ball, but featured no boundaries.

Colin Ingram has hit the most sixes this year with 29. He is well ahead of Dan Christian and Ashar Zaidi on 23. Jason Roy's 64 fours lead that table, ahead of Michael Klinger's 58.

Aneurin Donald of Glamorgan was the only teenager to score a fifty, performing the feat not once, but twice.
