Verdict

Sprint handicaps don’t get more competitive than this. Came From The Dark is probably best over a fast-run 5f but this is an easy 6f and the recent Haydock winner loves the mud. Aplomb has been frustrating this year but could be interesting now he’s got his head back in front. Mr Lupton finished ahead of many of these when third in the Ayr Gold Cup and has a touch of class. Billy Garritty’s claim should aid his cause while Magical Spirit quickened clear of Admirality to land the Ayr Silver Cup last month. Old-timer Greenside is still capable on his day but it’s hard to imagine that Tranchee will have the speed to keep tabs on some of these over a shorter trip. ROULSTON SCAR won over course and distance last year and produced a career-best at Nottingham when returning from a break. He’ll be fresher than most and has only been raised 2lb.
