It was soft going when Commanche Falls beat Gulliver and Great Ambassador in this contest last year. The latter is preferred on today’s ground and stablemate Popmaster gives Ed Walker a strong hand having gone close in the Wokingham at Ascot with First Folio and Mr Wagyu behind. The latter beat Able Kane in the consolation race for this last term and arrives in fine form having won a premier handicap on a trip over to the Curragh last time while Whenthedealinsdone has come in for support after a good effort at Ascot recently. INVER PARK completed a double over today’s trip before defying a hike in the weights and winning the Buckingham Palace over 7f at Ascot. There looks more to come from George Boughey’s progressive charge and he gets the vote. The 2020 winner Summerghand, Tinto, Lampang and Justanotherbottle were all well beaten in last season’s renewal.
