In depth

Verdict

Hope Probe ran his best race to date when stepping up to this trip at Lingfield while Ginato was consistent enough on Polytrack at Dundalk in the autumn but never got into contention for new connections at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago. Mellys Flyer makes his handicap debut after three moderate all-weather runs while Love Of Zoffany hasn't shown much since scoring at Wolverhampton in November. Fircombe Hall scored at Newcastle in December but was well beaten at Southwell last time and on his two starts here last summer. MIDNIGHT POPPY has been well beaten in two starts on Tapeta at Newcastle but was only half-a-length behind the winner at Musselburgh in September and gets the nod in a very poor opener.
