The Miz took down the briefcase on the final SmackDown before Money In The Bank, but got a shock when he opened it.

He had been on special guest referee duty for the colossal collision between Rusev and Samoa Joe, which went the way of the Bulgarian Brute after a fierce Machka Kick on Joe, who was involved in a mid-match confrontation with Miz.

Aiden English then retrieved a ladder from underneath the ring as it appeared there would be a Rusev Day celebration which included the traditional raising of the briefcase to signal pay-per-view intent.

Instead it was Miz who, a Skullcrushing Finale later, had that honour, but he got more than he bargained for when he opened said briefcase only to find it stuffed with pancakes.

Was this a symbol that the Money In The Bank contract will be heading into the hands of The New Day?

Nakamura was not finished there, however, and nailed Hardy with a Kinshasa knee strike before counting him out.

His WWE title match against AJ Styles at Money In The Bank on Sunday night will be under "last man standing" rules which means anything goes - including low blows.

Ahead of their title match this Sunday, Asuka made Carmella tap out to the Asuka Lock during SmackDown's main event.

They were team-mates on the go-home SmackDown in a huge 10-woman tag match which may also have provided a pointer for the weekend as it ended with Asuka forcing champion Carmella to tap out.

As the contenders for Sunday's briefcase celebrated their win, they stared out Asuka, who of course has title ambitions of her own.
