WWE: Charlotte and The Rock have continued fine family heritage

When Charlotte struts to the ring for her Divas Championship defence against Brie Bella at Fastlane, she is likely to be flanked by her father, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.

Flair won 16 world championships during his career and his daughter has begun to follow in his footsteps, having claimed the butterfly-emblazoned belt for the first time at Night of Champions in September.

However, Charlotte is just the latest offspring off a wrestling legend to win gold in the squared circle, as you will learn from the paragraphs below...

THE ROCK
The People's Champion comes from excellent lineage, with his father, Rocky Johnson winning myriad titles across the North American territories, including the WWE Tag Team Championships with Tony Atlas, and his grandfather, "High Chief" Peter Maivia, a renowned grappler, too. So it comes as no surprise that The Rock - or Dwayne Johnson, to give him his real name - has gone on to win 10 world championships in WWE, most recently holding the prize in 2013 before losing it to John Cena  at that year's WrestleMania, as well as two Intercontinental Titles and five Tag Team crowns.

THE USOS AND ROMAN REIGNS
With The Rock often away from WWE filming Hollywood movies and Sky Atlantic's NFL comedy Ballers, the Samoan section of his family has been well represented by his cousins, Jimmy and Jey Uso and Roman Reigns. The Usos, sons of the dance-loving and Stinkface-applying Rikishi, have pinched the WWE Tag Team Titles on two occasions, with Reigns, whose dad, Sika, enjoyed tag-team success in WWE in the 1980s, claiming the twin straps with Seth Rollins before nabbing the World Heavyweight Championship twice. A win at Fastlane could put him on course for title No 3.

RANDY ORTON
Wrestling is what the Ortons do. Bob Orton Sr did it, his son "Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr did it and his grandson Randy Orton still does it very, very well. The Bobs won ample belts during their wrestling tenures, albeit none in WWE, but Randy has exceeded his ancestors by procuring 12 world championships in Vince McMahon's company, including two in one night at No Mercy in 2007, when he was awarded the strap by McMahon following an injury to Cena, promptly lost it to Triple H and then pinched it back from The Game following a show-closing, Last Man Standing Match.

THE HART FAMILY
Wrestling doyen Stu Hart never won gold in WWE but his descendants have - multiple times. Hart's son Bret enjoyed the most success, pocketing seven world titles among ample other accolades, with Bret's brother Owen earning Intercontinental, European and Tag Team gongs before his tragic death at the age of just 34. Stu passed away in 2003 and Bret has now retired but the Hart name lives on in the ring courtesy of Stu's granddaughter Natalya, a one-time Divas Champion, and grandson David Hart Smith, who collected tag gold alongside Tyson Kidd in WWE before heading to the Japan scene.

GOLDUST AND STARDUST
The late Dusty Rhodes' children are still impressing in WWE as well. Goldust, currently looking to convince R-Truth to become his tag partner, is a three-time Intercontinental Champion and Stardust/Cody Rhodes/"Dashing" Cody Rhodes has grabbed that belt on two occasions, while the shimmering siblings have also teamed up to win a pair of WWE Tag Team Championships. Rhodes, one of the most charismatic wrestlers in history so says WWE Chairman McMahon, also helped cultivate the next generation of champions with his sterling work behind the scenes in NXT.

DAVID FLAIR
Curtis Axel, Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio have profited from the wisdom handed down to them by their father "Mr Perfect" Curt Henning, and uncles Mil Mascaras and Rey Misterio, Sr respectively, but David Flair profited from his dad, Ric's, interference to retain the United States Championship in a clash with submission specialist Dean Malenko back in his ECW days. David only wrestles sporadically these days but, as mentioned earlier, Ric is still "supporting" Charlotte during her matches. It would be no surprise if his "support" caused Brie Bella to lose to her on Sunday night…

WWE Fastlane will be repeated on Sky Sports Box Office (channel 491) but NOT Sky Sports HD Box Office (channel 492) between 9am, Monday, February 22 and 9pm, Tuesday, February 23.
