Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar has admitted he plans to meet with his agent to hold talks over his future.

The Holland international impressed with his displays at the back during the World Cup in Brazil this summer as the 2010 finalists finished in third place.

That has led to speculation that a move away from Villa Park could be on the cards this summer, but the 29-year-old, who has just one year left on his current deal, claims he is still to consider his next move.

Vlaar was quoted as saying in Dutch football magazine Helden: "I still have one year left and I understand Aston Villa absolutely don't want to let me go.

"[In] the previous weeks I haven't even thought about a possible transfer. The only thing I did was enjoying my holiday and didn't think about football.

"Soon I will meet my agent and discuss the various options."

Vlaar has confirmed that he will meet up with the rest of the Villa squad for their friendly against Groningen in his homeland on Saturday, but has ruled out taking part in the match.

He added: "At the moment I am having a holiday and visiting my parents. I am enjoying my time with family and my two sons.

"On Saturday, Aston Villa will play against Groningen. I have an agreement to report over there and I will attend the game in the stadium.

"I won't play. I haven't done anything in the previous weeks except jumping with my children on the trampoline."
