Sky Sports understands that MK Dons are set to win the race for striker Tom Hitchcock.

The 21-year-old is a free agent after being freed by Queens Park Rangers, following their promotion to the Premier League.

Interest has been very strong in the former Blackburn Rovers striker, with half-a-dozen clubs looking to land him - including League One play-off winners Rotherham - where he finished last season on-loan.

But Sky Sports understands that it is MK Dons who are set to clinch his signature, and should announce his signature later this week.

Last season, in loan spells at Crewe and Rotherham, and in his only game for QPR - Hitchcock scored nine goals in 14 league games.
