Top seed Jarmila Groth secured a spot in the final of the Guangzhou International Women's Open after handing out a thrashing to Edina Gallovits. Groth needed only 38 minutes to defeat her Romanian opponent 6-0 6-1 in the semi-final at the Chinese tournament. The 23-year-old Australian will be bidding for her first singles title on the WTA Tour in the final on Sunday. Alla Kudryavtseva will be standing in her way after the Russian also enjoyed a comfortable win against Shuai Zhang in the last four. Home favourite Zhang was overwhelmed in the first set before gradually improving, although she never looked like mounting a comeback and Kudryavtseva closed out a 6-0 6-4 victory.
