Room-mates battle it out in Hobart final

Petra Kvitova captured her first WTA title by beating Iveta Benesova 7-5 6-1 in an all-Czech final at the Hobart International. Benesova, runner-up at Hobart in 2006, lost a tight first set before her 18-year-old opponent ran away with the match in the second. The two players are good friends as well as compatriots. They are both coached by David Kotyza, who was absent during the match having said he would not be able to watch if both players reached the final. Kvitova and Benesova were also room-mates during the competition in Hobart, something Benesova joked about after the match. "I don't know if I can call her a friend anymore. We are sharing a room but I think I will kick her out tonight," she said.
