Roger Federer, Nick Kyrgios and Milos Raonic in action in Cincinnati
Tuesday 18 August 2015 22:28, UK
Roger Federer returns to the court for the first time since his Wimbledon final defeat on Tuesday night, in an action-packed night of tennis at the Cincinnati Masters.
Federer, who slipped to world No 2 after Andy Murray's win in Montreal last week, has a terrific history in Cincy. The 17-time Grand Slam champion has won the title in Ohio a total of six times, with the weather conditions suiting his style of play.
The Swiss star, who beat David Ferrer to win the 2014 trophy, will take on another Spaniard in Roberto Bautista Agut as he kicks off his quest to retain the title.
Aussie bad-boy Nick Kyrgios has been filling up the back pages in recent weeks with his on-court behaviour. The 20-year-old was caught targeting Stan Wawrinka with some derogatory sledging in their match in Montreal last week, and there's always a risk of more drama when he enters the court.
Kyrgios will play Richard Gasquet in the opening match of the day. The pair met in this summer's Wimbledon fourth round, where the Australian was accused of tanking and had an argument with the umpire. Right now, Kyrgios is a man you can't help but watch!
There's an all-American clash on the Center Court as two big-servers in John Isner and Sam Querrey collide. The Cincy crowd will be in full voice as these two similarly-matched and in-form players battle to keep the home dream alive.
Also on Tuesday, rising stars Alexander Zverev and Borna Coric face each other, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga takes on Spanish veteran Fernando Verdasco, Feliciano Lopez matches up against ninth seed Milos Raonic and Thomaz Bellucci has a tough ask to try and conquer Tomas Berdych.
