Williams sisters on course for quarter-final clash at US Open

Venus Williams booked a fourth round date at the US Open with Agnieszka Radwanska after a commanding 6-2 6-1 success over Alona Bondarenko, while her sister Serena joined her sibling in the last 16. Seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams took just 57 minutes to batter the Ukrainian into submission and move into the fourth round at Flushing Meadows. Williams could still be heading towards a possible quarter-final clash with her sister Serena after comfortably dealing with Bondarenko on the Arthur Ashe court. Before that, however, will come Poland's Radwanska after she also enjoyed a New York stroll with a 6-0 63 win over Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova. The number nine seed took just 76 minutes to seal her passage into the fourth round where Wimbledon champion Williams will be waiting. "I felt like I had to play my game, serve huge, and that served me well," Williams said. "She is very consistent. It always helps when I don't make a lot of errors."

Sister meeting

A Williams v Williams quarter-final is still on the horizon after Serena also cruised into the fourth round by battering Ai Sugiyama. Two-time US Open champion Serena took just over an hour to win 6-2 6-1 to move into the last 16. Fourth seed Serena lost to Venus in the Wimbledon final but the older sister is fearing a quarter-final clash, should it happen. "I would have loved if we could have met in the final," Venus said. "My biggest worry is that she is so good. I'm worried how I'm going to get past her more than anything." Upset queen Julie Coin could not repeat her magic in New York as she was beaten by felow Frenchwoman Amelie Mauresmo in straight sets. The world's 188th-ranked player stunned top seed Ana Ivanovic on Thursday, but she was outclassed by compatriot Mauresmo, with the number 32 seed winning out 6-4 6-4.
