Autumn International: Scotland v Australia preview

Captain Kelly Brown is back in the Scotland line-up, while Glasgow's Ryan Grant and Tim Swinson and Montpellier's Johnnie Beattie were also named earlier this week to return for the final Autumn international.

Since then, Swinson aggravated a chest injury, sustained originally in the opening international against Japan, during training on Wednesday afternoon and has returned to the care of his club's medical team.

Grant Gilchrist, the 23-year-old Edinburgh second row, has now stepped up to the starting team in place of Swinson to win his fourth cap. Gilchrist's place on the bench will be taken by Jonny Gray, who won his first cap against South Africa last week.

Glasgow Warriors winger Tommy Seymour, who marked his Murrayfield international debut with a brace of tries in the 42-17 win against Japan, has recovered from a leg injury sustained against the Boks and will start.

So the only change to the back division sees Ruaridh Jackson - who was at fault for two of the South African tries - replaced at stand-off by Duncan Weir.

Scotland head coach Scott Johnson said: "The injuries we've experienced with four of our frontline backs sidelined during this series - Stuart Hogg, Tim Visser, Alex Dunbar and Matt Scott - have meant that we've had to think long and hard about combinations and our bench this weekend."

Four changes

Australia coach Ewen McKenzie has made four changes to his starting line-up, all in the backs.

Inside centre Mike Harris and outside centre Christian Leali'ifano team up in the midfield, while Joe Tomane and Chris Feauai-Sautia form a new pairing on the wings.

Harris and Leali'ifano replace Tevita Kuridrani, who has been banned for five weeks for an illegal tackle during Sunday's 32-15 win over Ireland in Dublin, and Matt Toomua, who has a hamstring injury.

An additional four changes have been made to the bench, with prop Ben Alexander, back-rower Ben McCalman and versatile backs Nick Phipps and Bernard Foley all coming into the squad.

Prop Paddy Ryan also features on the bench despite being one of six players suspended for one match for drinking in midweek ahead of the Ireland game.

Ryan will serve his ban in the game against Wales in a fortnight as IRB regulations state the 23-man squad must contain four props.

Adam Ashley-Cooper, Nick Cummins, Liam Gill, Tatafu Polota-Nau and Benn Robinson are all suspended for this match.
