Racing-Metro came from behind to edge Toulon 15-12 in a Top 14 match featuring no less than six drop goals on Sunday night.
Toulon had led 12-3 at half time thanks to three drops goals and a penalty from the metronomic boot of England international Jonny Wilkinson.
However the hosts replied in the second half with three drops of their own, two of them from Jonathan Wisniewski with the other coming courtesy of South African Frans Steyn.
Wisniewski also kicked his second penalty of a contest that had at one stage seen Toulon down to 14 due to the sin-binning of prop Laurent Emmanuelli.
The result takes Racing to second in the Top 14 standings while a losing bonus point for the visitors does shift them up to sixth place.
