Scott Deasy posted a decisive late try to boost Munster to a hard-fought 19-12 victory against Edinburgh in Magners League action at Musgrave Park.
The 21-year-old was making just his second league appearance as he recovered from five misplaced kicks to stamp his mark on the game in the 58th minute, leaving Edinburgh without reply.
Munster had two players sent to the sin-bin and lost three to early injuries, losing Donnacha Ryan, Paul Warwick and Niall Ronan all around the quarter-hour mark.
The Scottish side were 12-8 ahead early in the second half but Munster battled back to mark their 15th consecutive home win.
Threatening
Edinburgh looked more threatening early on as a David Blair drop-goal propelled them in front.
The hosts were quick to respond as prop Marcus Horan ploughed over from close range, but Deasy failed to convert.
Blair hit back for the visitors with his first successful penalty on 25 minutes, while Deasy crashed a penalty for Munster off the post three minutes later but went on to punish an Edinburgh scrum infringement to put the home side two points ahead.
Edinburgh reclaimed their lead before half-time as Munster's Alan Quinlan was ruled offside and Blair converted the resulting penalty for a 9-8 advantage.
Deasy fired over a 57th-minute penalty in the second half to put Munster back ahead then broke the Edinburgh line soon after to seize a crucial try.
The youngster failed to convert and Munster threw everything into defence in the closing stages to keep the visitors at bay.
Edinburgh were dangerously close to crossing the Munster line but Tony McGahan's men held on to seal the win.
