Clermont Auvergne booked their place in the Amlin Challenge Cup semi-finals on Thursday with a 23-13 victory over La Rochelle at Stade Marcel Deflandre.
A try from skipper Aurelien Rougerie and eight points from the boot of fly-half Brock James saw Clermont take a 13-6 lead into the half-time break.
South African full-back Greg Goosen drew the hosts level going into the final quarter with a try and a conversion to add to his two first-half penalties.
But a try from powerful Fijian wing Kini Murimurivalu and another penalty from James sealed the win for Clermont.
