Ulster made it two wins from as many games to start the new Guinness PRO12 season with a 22-11 success over Treviso in Italy.
Filo Paulo's sin-binning in the second half proved the key moment as Ulster used the man advantage to crash over for tries through Rob Herring and Ruan Pienaar.
Last season's semi-finalists did not have it all their own way, despite Luke Marshall crossing after just four minutes and Pienaar converting for the first slice of his 12 points.
Treviso otherwise enjoyed the best of the opening half and should have had more to show for their efforts at the break than two Tommaso Allan penalties.
Allan was himself guilty of a glaring penalty miss, which Pienaar punished as he landed a long-range effort.
Paulo was sent to the sin bin shortly after the resumption for a late hit on Ross Kane and Ulster profited.
Herring touched down on 54 minutes after a line-out drive before Pienaar ran in a third.
Ulster could not grab a bonus-point try, however, as Herring was later sent to the sin bin and Treviso claimed a deserved score of their own through Tommaso Benvenuti.
