Prolific scorer agrees four-year deal with Warriors

Wigan are set to sign winger Amos Roberts on a four-year deal after he was released from the final year of his contract with Sydney Roosters. The 27-year-old has been a prolific scorer in the NRL, racking up 109 tries in 179 top-grade games - and topped the charts after crossing 23 times in the 2004 season for Penrith. And having impressed Down Under, Roberts had wanted to try his hand in the Super League - with Wigan offering him a chance. Roosters chief executive Brian Canavan told the club's website: "By allowing him to take up the four-year contract with Wigan, it has provided financial security for his young family and provides Amos with the opportunity to fulfil a life-long dream of playing in England. "It also eases any pressure on the Roosters salary cap for 2009."
