Upsetting his 12-year-old son is a price Warrington Wolves caretaker coach James Lowes is prepared to risk when Bradford Bulls visit on Friday.
Former Bradford and Great Britain hooker Lowes has led the Wolves to four wins out of five since being placed in charge following Paul Cullen's departure.
That run of form has lifted them above the Bulls into fifth in the engage Super League table and defeat at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday would further undermine Bradford's top-six prospects.
That would be disappointing news for Joe Lowes but his father insists there will be no divided loyalty.
"My lad was brought up whilst I was playing at Bradford and he's a staunch Bradford Bulls fan," said Lowes.
"He's got all the shirts and likes to rib me.
Fond memories
"I've got a lot of fond memories of my time at Bradford. There are good people at the club, including (coach) Steve McNamara who is a good friend.
"I've a lot of respect for the place but I'm 100 percent committed to Warrington."
Bradford have beaten Warrington in each of their last five meetings and are further boosted by the return from a hamstring injury of skipper Paul Deacon following a seven-match absence.
"I think if we won there it would send a message out about us," said McNamara.
"We have not really performed in front of the TV cameras this season and they will be there on Friday."
