Huddersfield have released centre Jamie Simpson after just seven appearances for the Super League club.

Former South Sydney Rabbitoh expected to return to NRL

Huddersfield have released Jamie Simpson after just seven appearances for the Super League club. The centre joined the Giants in February but missed four months of the 2011 campaign after undergoing shoulder surgery in April. He did return to action at the back end of the season but has now been allowed to leave the Galpharm Stadium - the former South Sydney Rabbitoh is expected to go back to the NRL to find a new club. "I expect to see Jamie quickly return to the NRL scene and he leaves with our very best wishes for the future and thanks for his time with us," said Giants managing director Richard Thewlis. Simpson's departure means coach Nathan Brown has only three overseas players, or 'non-federation trained' as they are now known, in his first-team squad.
