Warriors boss delighted with response to first defeat of season
Wigan coach Michael Maguire was delighted with the response of his team as they bounced back from a first defeat of the season to hammer Hull on Friday night.
Wigan lost their first game of the campaign last week to Bradford, but responded in fine style by easily seeing off Hull at the DW Stadium.
Maguire's men cemented their place at the top of the Super League table, and he was delighted with such a good response.
"The boys throughout the week really showed a lot of commitment to their training and they got their rewards tonight," he said.
"It was pleasing to see the way they turned themselves around.
"We were committed until around the 72nd minute and we need to look at that. The boys themselves are quite disappointed too. You've got to go for 80 minutes."
Agar down
Hull coach Richard Agar admitted his side had been badly beaten but vowed they would bounce back.
"I thought Wigan played strongly but we heaped a bit of pressure on ourselves with some errors in our own half and poor kick-finishes and a whole host of penalties," he said.
"They certainly made the most of their territorial advantage. We needed a decent share of possession and field position in the start of the second half we couldn't get out of our own half.
"We know we've been well beaten but we know exactly where we've gone wrong. The guys are hurting from this defeat but we know we can bounce back.
"The pleasing thing is when we did have possession we showed we could score points. I thought Richard Horne had a terrific game."
