Wigan hooker heard of deal after receiving texts from friends
Wigan's Micky Higham is to sit down and discuss his future with coach Brian Noble after he was offered in a part-exchange deal with Bradford for Terry Newton without his knowledge.
The former St Helens hooker, who was also part of the transfer that took Newton to Bradford two years ago, says he is upset at being left in the dark after Wigan tried to re-sign the Great Britain hooker at the weekend.
Both Newton and the Bulls ultimately rejected the proposed deal, but Higham is clearly unhappy over the way in which the affair was played out.
"I'm miffed because it looks as though I'm the last to find out about this," he told the
Wigan Evening Post.
"I'm not really happy if something has gone on behind my back. It's not nice to be kept in the dark when there are things going on that are out of your control. Sometimes I think being 'Mr Nice Guy' is no good."
Higham claims he found out what was going on inadvertently when he received text messages from friends.
He added: "I got a couple of texts from some mates asking me if I was leaving Wigan - and that was the first I heard about it.
"I spoke to Brian Noble last week, and he told me everything was fine and that he was happy with how I was going.
"This is the last year of my current contract at Wigan, and I'm going to have a word with 'Nobby' to see what's been going on.
"I'm not going to fret about this. I will be getting on with things, carrying on training and playing as normal. But what's happened will be at the back of my mind."
