Australian Mitch Brown scored two tries on his debut as Leigh held off a late onslaught from London Broncos to start their campaign in the Super 8s Qualifiers with a 34-30 victory at Leigh Sports Village.
The Centurions led 34-8 after 72 minutes after Brown, their new centre recruit from Cronulla, and his wing partner Matty Dawson scored two tries apiece to add to one from Reni Maitua and seven goals from Martyn Ridyard.
Ben Hellewell was the Londoners' only try scorer as they trailed 14-8 at half-time and then conceded 20 points in the first 26 minutes of the second half.
However, a late flurry of points saw Api Pewhairangi go over for two tries in three minutes and Andy Ackers and Jack Bussey added others, with Pewhairangi kicking three conversions in a frantic finish.
Both teams finished with 12 men after Greg Worthington (Leigh) and Jamie Soward (London Broncos) were sent off on 75 minutes following a skirmish while Leigh forward Cory Paterson was sin-binned in the first half for a high tackle.
