Leeds Rhinos v Wigan Warriors: First Utility Super League preview
Last Updated: 20/03/15 10:11pm
Danny McGuire will captain Leeds Rhinos in Friday’s crunch First Utility Super League clash with Wigan Warriors at Headingley Carnegie.
McGuire takes over the captaincy from injured stand-off Kevin Sinfield as Liam Sutcliffe comes into Rhinos coach Brian McDermott’s 19-man squad.
McDermott must decide whether to recall Zak Hardaker following his release from a police investigation or stick with his replacement at full-back, teenager Ashton Golding, who is hoping to make his home debut.
Prop Andy Yates is poised to make his second appearance in place of Kylie Leuluai, who suffered a rib injury during last week’s defeat at Warrrington.
Wigan also have a host of injury problems, with Josh Charnley out for up to six weeks with damaged ankle ligaments, while Sam Powell (calf) and Ryan Sutton (concussion) are also sidelined.
Head coach Shaun Wane brings in Dom Manfredi and George Williams in place of Charnley and Powell respectively, and he has also called-up Ryan Hampshire, Logan Tomkins and Connor Farrell.
The Warriors suffered a 28-12 loss when they visited Headingley last year, but they exacted revenge later in the season with victories at the Magic Weekend and the DW Stadium.
