Super League leaders Wigan bounced back from last week's home defeat by Warrington with a magnificent display at Hull.
The Warriors won 46-0 against the side with the league's best home record, winger Pat Richards scoring a hat-trick of tries and kicking seven of eight attempts at goal for the visitors.
The Black and Whites had won seven of their last nine in climbing to fourth in the table and had lost just once at the KC Stadium all season.
But they were swept away by a Warriors side determined to make amends for that defeat by their closest pursuers at the top.
After an error and penalty-strewn opening 10 minutes, Wigan broke the deadlock when Richards collected Paul Deacon's kick into the corner and finished clinically.
Richards quickly turned provider two minutes later after yet another Hull infringement, breaking down the left wing before offloading to George Carmont, who put Liam Farrell over.
Hull enjoyed their best period of the match with a 10-minute spell of sustained pressure midway through the half, but the Wigan line stood firm and from then on it was almost all one-way traffic.
Stroll in
With seven minutes to the break, Sean O'Loughlin's fine long pass allowed Darrell Goulding to stroll in and moments later Richards beat Jordan Turner to Sam Tomkins' high bomb and the stand-off was on hand to take the return pass and score.
With Richards kicking three goals from four, Wigan led 22-0 at the break.
Two minutes into the second half Richards was once again involved, chipping inside from his wing for Tomkins to grab his second try.
Harrison Hansen's strength in the tackle gave Richards the chance to again display his finishing skills in the corner - and his kicking skills from out wide.
The seventh try was the best of the bunch, with Tomkins' step, burst and brilliant inside pass setting up Farrell for his second score.
It only remained for Richards to complete his hat-trick and he duly did nine minutes from time thanks to another long, floating pass out wide, this time from Deacon.
