Struggling Huddersfield received a standing ovation from the Galpharm Stadium faithful after beating Harlequins 26-16.
A strong second-half performance saw the home side record only their second victory in seven games after they had trailed 10-8 at half-time.
Caretaker coaches Paul Anderson and Keiron Purtill will have been delighted after they beat a play-off chasing Quins side who had defeated Leeds last time out despite being without a number of key players.
Tom Hemingway, drafted into the side at scrum-half, played a massive role in the Giants' victory, kicking seven goals.
Excellent penalty
The 21-year-old, in because of injuries to captain Chris Thorman and Ryan Hudson and suspensions to Kevin Brown and Luke Robinson, opened the scoring in the third minute with an excellent penalty from near the right touchline.
But the visitors hit back just two minutes later with Chad Randall sending Tony Clubb over the line following a slick passing move.
In a topsy-turvy opening, the Giants then regained the lead when Michael Lawrence grounded Jamahl Lolesi's teasing grubber kick, with Hemingway adding the extras.
Once again the visitors replied, going back in front thanks to a 23rd minute Karl Temata try and Henry Paul's successful conversion.
Quick tries
After a much-needed break, Hemingway added another penalty in the 44th minute before the Giants scored two quick tries to win the game.
The first came through Lolesi in the 53rd minute and then Stuart Jones sealed the points six minutes later.
Hemingway slotted over his third penalty of the afternoon soon after, before a Michael Worrincy try and Paul conversion reduced the deficit.
However, it was all too late for Harlequins, Hemingway landing a penalty late on to make sure of a victory that lifts the Giants into 10th spot in the table.
