In depth

Verdict

Miss Dagger and Waddon make most appeal among those to have raced previously and this may go to one of the newcomers with a chance taken on Mid Valley, who gets the vote over Ann Summers Gold. The last mentioned should make into a useful racehorse but is bred for a faster surface and may be best watched. Similar comments apply to Richard Hannon's Catspraddle, who has an American dirt pedigree and would not appreciate any rain that may fall. Hoh Wotanite showed a hint of ability on his Newbury debut but has been done few favours with the draw, while Miss Dagger has the benefit of having raced twice already but probably needs to improve and may prefer a faster surface. The Clive Cox-trained Waddon showed promise here over six furlongs two weeks ago and has to be respected but a chance is taken with Mid Valley. John Jenkins is not known for his great success with two-year-olds first time out but, being by Zilzal, he makes plenty of appeal on pedigree particularly if the rain comes and may go well at a decent price.
