A race to watch rather than bet upon but a decent contest nonetheless.Henry Cecil's Apex Star was a winner at Leicester first time out and appears under a penalty. He beat a Stoute hotpot on the day and as a entrant in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster, there is clearly scope for improvement. British Blue ran well enough on debut at Doncaster. The soft ground was probably against him on that occasion but the Loder horses do improve for the run and it would not be unexpected for him to go close here. Western Fling brings the Group race form into the equation having ran down the field in the Coventry Stakes. That said, he was slowly away on that occasion and did enough to suggest he would be good enough to take a seven furlong prize. Chetak was a little disappointing in a Newmarket maiden while Once is a definite one to watch the market over. Michael Bell has a canny knack of placing his newcomers and although this horse is likely to need further on breeding, any market support is worth following.
