Verdict

The selection here is Rancho Cucamonga, who gets the call over Mothecombe Dream and Piddies Pride. Much as he has only once been tried over today's trip, Rancho Cucamonga has often raced as though it would suit him. Given that he also shows up well on the adjusted ratings for this claimer, he could well be the one to be on today. Bodden Bay has yet to prove he stays this far and probably needs an improved effort to score anyway, but Mothecombe Dream comes well into the argument based on his second to Ronnie's Lad over course and distance last time. Manic can also be given more than a shout if at his best, and Piddies Pride is weighted to get the better of Bodden Bay at today's weights based on six-furlong form here on January 26. Finally, first-time blinkers could yet yield some improvement from Epitomise but we reckon they would need to. It is possible, of course, that that could be the case but, for us, the one to beat is Rancho Cucamonga.
