Cold Turkey, Compton Emerald, Princess Magdalena and Havantadoubt seem to be the ones to focus on here with our vote going to Compton Emerald. The Gerard Butler-trained selection made eyecatching headway when tried over this trip for the first time at Nottingham last time and, now that connections can be more confident of him seeing out this trip, looks worthy of the nomination in this claimer. Cold Turkey won at Leicester in July over 10 furlongs from a mark of 65 and has some good placed efforts since to his name too. Princess Magdalena comes here on the back of a win in a Windsor seller, but at least she is going the right way. Havantadoubt is the sole course and distance winner in the line-up, that win coming in June from a mark of 65. On that basis, he should get the better of Cold Turkey and, with blinkers fitted for the first time, might give the selection most to do. There are others with bits of form to their name and they too will attract supporters but, overall, Compton Emerald looks set to run a good race and gets our vote.
