Team GB's James Woods just misses out on bronze in men's ski slopestyle

James Woods agonisingly missed out on claiming an historic fifth medal of the 2018 Winter Olympics for Great Britain when he finished fourth in the men's ski slopestyle.

Woods entered the last of three final runs in Pyeongchang in bronze medal position thanks to a second run score of 91.00.

But he was knocked off the podium by a later run from American Nick Goepper, who took silver, with Canada's Alex Beaulieu-Marchand claiming bronze, just 1.4 points ahead of Woods.

Woods' finish was one better than he managed in Sochi four years ago but it will come as no consolation to the Sheffield star who came to the Games as a strong medal contender.

Woods told teamgb.com: "Fourth isn't that great, it definitely sucks. Fourth place is so devastating, you're so close to the action.

"I can put my hand on heart and say that run, totally clean, definitely could have won and I'm proud of that.

"With this depth of field, it is incredible because everyone is so, so good. You can't predict a thing. I went out there and put it all on the line and I went for broke.

"That final was next level. That was mega. The number of people that got in the 90s in qualification was obscene. Everyone put on a show - I couldn't be more proud."

Norway's Oystein Braaten took gold with a first-run score of 95.00.
