Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota has agreed to a contract with the Tennessee Titans.

The Titans finalised the deal with the former Oregon quarterback on Tuesday. Terms were not immediately available.

Mariota, the No 2 overall pick behind Jameis Winston in the 2015 NFL draft, is expected to be an immediate starter for the Titans, who went 2-14 last season.

"I am very grateful and honoured to have this opportunity," said the 21-year-old. "I look forward to the future with my teammates and I am truly excited to be part of this team."

In 2014, 6ft 4ins Mariota directed the most efficient offense in the country and led all quarterbacks with a 90.9 rating. He threw for 4,454 yards and 42 touchdowns, while rushing for 770 yards and 15 scores.
