San Diego Chargers' strong safety Clinton Hart has signed a new five-year contract with the team.
Hart started all 16 games in the regular season last year, and all three play-off games for the Chargers.
A five-year veteran of the NFL, Hart has spent four of those years with the Chargers after a first season with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Hart was second on the team with five interceptions and third in tackles with 109 for San Diego last season, who made it to the AFC championship games before being beaten by New England.
Hart is delighted to have agreed to a new long-term deal to keep him in San Diego for a further five years.
Blessed
"It's a day that I've been waiting for," said Hart. "I've put in a lot of work.
"I feel blessed and I'm happy to be part of the Chargers for a few more years so we can make that run at a world championship."
Hart did not play in college and appeared in the Arena Football League before signing with the Eagles in 2003, before The Chargers claimed him off waivers in September 2004.
"We are very happy to have Clinton as a part of our future," added Chargers general manager AJ Smith.
"He was a first-year starter last year and was a major part of our team's success. We believe his best football is ahead of him."
Saints sign veteran
New Orleans Saints have strengthened their defence by signing veteran cornerback Aaron Glenn.
Glenn played just five games for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season, claiming one interception.
The 14-year NFL veteran played all 16 games for the Dallas Cowboys the previous year and is fifth-ranked amongst active players in the league with 41 career interceptions.
Glenn was a first-round pick in the 1994 draft by the New York Jets, and has 633 career tackles and returned six interceptions for touchdowns with the Jaguars, Cowboys, Houston Texans and Jets.
