Miami Dolphins have added veteran running back Frank Gore to their squad with the departed Damien Williams heading for Kansas City Chiefs.
Gore, who is from South Florida and attended the University of Miami, visited with the Dolphins on Thursday having been released by the Indianapolis Colts before the start of free agency.
Multiple reports suggest Gore has agreed a one-year deal with the Dolphins and will join last year's emerging force Kenyan Drake in the Miami backfield having traded Jay Ajayi to the Philadelphia Eagles midway through the 2017 season.
Gore was drafted in 2005 by the San Francisco 49ers and has played 13 NFL seasons with 14,026 career rushing yards just 75 yards behind former Patriots and Jets running back Curtis Martin for fourth place on the all-time rushing list.
Known for insane workouts and a high pain threshold, Gore has become the exception to the rule on over-30 running backs with at least 960 rushing yards in each of the past seven seasons.
In addition to Gore, the Dolphins have hosted former Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler as they seek backup to Ryan Tannehill, although a QB is high on the list of Draft priorities.
Also on the way out in what has been a busy offseason in Miami is Williams who has joined the Chiefs as a free agency following four seasons with the Dolphins, primarily as a backup.
Free agency may be in full flow but we will also have all three days live of the NFL Draft on Sky Sports at the end of April - coverage begins at midnight on Thursday April 26
Neil Reynolds and the @SkySportsNFL crew will host a preview show which you can see from Monday April 23, a Day One recap show and the full review of all three days
