The San Francisco 49ers will start Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback for this first time, against the Chicago Bears this Sunday.
San Francisco first-year head coach Kyle Shanahan supposedly met with his quarterbacks on Tuesday to tell them Garoppolo will get the nod for the 1-10 49ers this weekend.
The Niners acquired Garoppolo on before the trade deadline on October 31, from the New England Patriots - where he was back-up for Tom Brady - for a 2018 second-round draft pick.
Garoppolo has since sat behind C.J. Beathard while taking time to learn the new offense until the rookie starter went down with a knee injury late in their 24-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday.
Garoppolo came in, completed both of his two passing attempts, one of which was a 10-yard touchdown strike to Louis Murphy.
