The Miami Dolphins have confirmed the signing of star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh in a deal worth around £76m.
The former Detroit Lions pass rusher had 238 tackles, 36 sacks and 13 pass breaks-ups – as well as an interception – in his five seasons with the NFC Central team.
He has also been consistent in appearing for the Lions, playing for the team in 78 of 80 games.
He was selected as the overall No 2 pick in 2010 by the Lions and has been a four-time Pro Bowler.
The Lions decided not to put the franchise tag on Suh because he would have been too much of a hit – around £15m – to their salary cap.
“I had a great time in Detroit. I think the fans are absolutely exquisite to me, especially the people in the organisation the last five years," Suh said.
"For me, it was nothing short of being amazing. I have a lot of long-lasting relationships that I have in Detroit and I will always have those people. I really enjoyed that time there."
Suh might be a friendly face for defensive co-ordinators, but he has not always been with the NFL, having notched a two-game suspension for stamping on a Green Bay offensive linesman and he was also fined for an incident with Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers on another occasion.
