Highlights of the New Orleans Saints against the Atlanta Falcons in Week Three of the NFL

Drew Brees' one-yard run capped an 80-yard touchdown drive in overtime that lifted the New Orleans Saints to a 43-37 win over NFC South rivals Atlanta Falcons.

Brees passed for 396 yards and three touchdowns - also setting the NFL record for career completions - and ran for two more, with his first being a seven-yard score with just over a minute remaining that forced overtime.

Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan had his first career game with five touchdown passes, including three to rookie Calvin Ridley, who had a monster game.

However, it was not to be enough for the Falcons (1-2) against Brees and the high-scoring Saints (2-1), who gained 534 yards of offense.

Patrick Mahomes continued to dazzle as a first-year starter, passing for 314 yards and three touchdowns as Kansas City (3-0) cruised in its home opener against San Francisco (1-2).

The loss could prove especially costly for San Francisco after quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was carted off the field in the fourth quarter with a left knee injury

Colts 16-20 Eagles

Carson Wentz started his first game at quarterback in more than nine months and led Philadelphia (2-1) past Indianapolis (1-2).

Wentz, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Week 14 on the road against the Rams last December, was 25 of 37 for 255 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Packers 17-31 Redskins

Washington (2-1) shredded the Green Bay (1-1-1) defense in the first half, with 323 yards en route to a comfortable victory.

Adrian Peterson rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns, while Washington quarterback Alex Smith finished with a modest 220 passing yards, two scores and an interception.

Javorius Allen scored two touchdowns, while Joe Flacco passed for 277 yards and a score as Baltimore (2-1) handled visiting Denver (2-1)
