The Saints have added Michael Thomas to their injury report in advance of Sunday's game against Atlanta, with their leading receiver struggling with a hamstring injury. He is officially listed as questionable for the match-up. New Orleans Saints have also placed safety Kenny Vaccaro (groin) on injured reserve, ending his season.

As for Atlanta, guard Andy Levitre is listed as questionable for Sunday, though coach Dan Quinn said he is "encouraged" in terms of his progress this week. Levitre is dealing with a triceps injury but has participated in all three days of practice this week. Running back Tevin Coleman will make his return to action after missing the Falcons' previous game against the Buccaneers with a concussion.

Stat attack

The Falcons are living life close to the edge seemingly every week. They've played 10 games this season in which the final margin has been six points or fewer; they've won six of those games, including a 20-17 win over the Saints in early December. However, Atlanta has lost in eight of their past 11 trips to New Orleans.

Key battle

NEW ORLEANS, LA - DECEMBER 03: Alvin Kamara #41 of the New Orleans Saints runs the ball against the Carolina Panthers during the second half of a NFL game
Image: Can rookie running back Alvin Kamara make an impact on this game for the Saints?

Saints duel running back threat of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara have had superb 2017 seasons so far, with Ingram registering 1,420 yards from scrimmage and Kamara 1,336. However, New Orleans only managed 50 total rushing yards and no touchdowns on 15 carries in the loss to Atlanta two weeks ago. That meagre total can be partially explained by Kamara being limited to just one rushing attempt after he left in the first quarter due to a concussion. Can the Falcons keep the pair quiet again?

Game-changer

TAMPA, FL - DECEMBER 18: Quarterback Matt Ryan #2 of the Atlanta Falcons hands the ball off to running back Devonta Freeman #24 in the fourth quarter again

Devonta Freeman. The Falcons running back has 806 yards and seven touchdowns on 174 carries this season, and had a strong performance last Monday night against the Buccaneers, registering 194 scrimmage yards and a TD in the victory. Also, in the last meeting with the Saints, Freeman picked up 91 yards and a TD off 24 toes. In his past seven games against NFC South opponents, he has managed 796 scrimmage yards, at 113.7 per game.

The Jaguars have promoted receiver Jaelen Strong to the active roster, indicating that Allen Hurns will miss a sixth consecutive game. Hurns (ankle) practised in a limited capacity all week and was listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Fellow receiver Marqise Lee (ankle) has already been ruled out.

San Francisco defensive tackle DeForest Buckner is set to play on Sunday, despite having missed Wednesday and Thursday's practices with an ankle injury. Tight end Garrett Celek, however, is listed as questionable due to knee and rib issues.

Stat attack

Since Week 13, 49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo (336 YPG) and Jaguars' Blake Bortles (301 YPG) are the only two quarterbacks in the NFL to have averaged 300+ pass yards per game and have led their team to an undefeated record.

Key battle

GLENDALE, AZ - NOVEMBER 26: Calais Campbell #93 of the Jacksonville Jaguars celebrates a ten yard fumble recovery touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals

Jimmy Garoppolo versus the 'Sacksonville' defense. Garoppolo has won each of his first five NFL starts - two with the Patriots and three-straight since joining the 49ers. He is the first quarterback to do that since Ben Roethlisberger in 2004. However, this week represents his toughest test yet, as he goes up against a fearsome Jaguars defense, notorious for taking down QBs. Jacksonville have a league-leading 51 sacks so far this season, with Calais Campbell accounting for a massive 14.5 of those.

Game-changer

Blake Bortles. The much-maligned QB has been in inspired form of late, passing for 326 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions for a 143.8 passer rating in last week's 45-7 thrashing of the Texans. He is the first player in Jaguars history to have three consecutive games with a 100+ passer rating, multiple TD passes and no picks.

Week 16 continues on Sunday with a double-header live on Sky Sports Action, starting with Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints, from 5.30pm
