Loughborough Lightning are delighted to announce the signing of New Zealander Jo Trip for the 2016 season.
Equally adept playing either Goal Keeper or Goal Defence, Trip joins Lightning from ANZ Championship side Kia Magic, having previously played for Canterbury Tactix.
Now 25 years old, Trip has a wealth of experience playing in one of the best leagues in the world, alongside the likes of England star Jo Harten.
Lightning head coach Karen Atkinson MBE said: "It is fantastic news for Loughborough Lightning that Jo is joining us after four seasons playing in the ANZ Championships.
"She is an athletic defender who reads the game well and will add much needed experience and versatility to our back line. We are looking forward to welcoming Jo into the Lightning family."
Of her 11,000 mile relocation, Trip said: "After speaking with Karen I can see that the team has made some huge changes in the 2014/2015 season and improved their ranking from eighth the year before to sixth last season.
"The team is becoming increasingly professional and Karen is determined to create a high performance, winning environment where hard work and dedication is key, which I cannot wait to be a part of.
"Having been in New Zealand my whole life and playing netball over here, I am really eager to experience a different culture of netball and different playing styles, as well as being able to potentially introduce a few things to the team.
"I am really looking forward to meeting new people and becoming part of the Loughborough family. I think this year may be one to watch for all Lightning fans."
Former Lightning player Jo Harten added: "I'm very excited to see Jo Trip signing for Lightning. Having played alongside her for four years in the ANZ Championship I know her determination and work ethic will be a huge boost for the franchise. I'm looking forward to tracking her progress through NSL 2016."
